My brillers friend Lyn predicted today was going to be STEAMY in the romance department….

Gorgeouses, Josh and I went on A DATE. For the first time. IN MONTHS.

At around 4pm, we dropped the monkeys off at it’sgrandma and papa’shere’s house, made a run for the car and sped off to the theatres so see….

LOVED IT. Yes, Cheaty AND Josh-O both give this movie a thumbs up. While, yes, it’s geared toward a high-school audience, there’s a lot of wisdom and a LO-HO-HOT of laughs in this movie. I mean, it’s Michael Cera (CANADIAN, might I proudly add)….

…and, you can’t go wrong with Michael Cera. I was first introduced to him, as most of us were, in the TOO-SHORT-LIVED, BRILLERS dramedy Arrested Development.

Then, we fell in love with him in Juno. Sigh, love. And, Gorgeouses, we fall in love with him again Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.

In Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Cera plays the same self-deprecating, intelligent, profound, creative, dorky, lovable high-school kid he played in Juno. This time, he plays Nick — a broken-hearted teenager who unexpectedly meets his happily-ever-after, Norah, on one CRAZY night out in Manhattan.

Obviously, Cera’s getting typecast. But, it’s great. Because this type of character is exactly what we all want and NEED to see. We want to see something real, but also lighthearted. We want to see characters that we can both relate to and aspire to become. And, as parents, we want to see role models (Nick and Norah tell each other soon after meeting that they don’t drink). Cera plays this wonderful character like no one else can. He makes JUST BEING YOU beautiful and attractive…. I’d watch him play this character over and over again so I can get to know him better and see more sides of him. He’s FASCINATING! Nobody can play this very timely character BUT Cera.

Norah, played by Kat Denning, is also intelligent, artsy, mature, and quirky — a female version of Nick, in a way. What I liked most about her, though, was her unique beauty. The camera LOVED Denning. Now, the what’s interesting about her is…, at least in the movie, she’s NOT SKINNY. No. She’s voluptuous, and she’s rather PLUMP next to Alexis Dziena — her costar, who plays Nick’s nasty ex-girlfriend. Next to Denning, Dziena looks too skinny. Imagine that: the skinny girl looks almost SILLY next to her STUNNING, fuller-figured counterpart…. Beautiful.

Basically, the movie will DEFINITELY encourage teenage girls to eat a sandwich because there was NOTHING attractive about scrawny Dziena next to the voluptuous, stunning Denning.

Anyway, after the movie, Josh and I went for dinner at a great little Thai restaurant. So relaxing…. No kids…. So relaxing…!

Question: why is my favourite drink called WHITE Zinfandel when it’s OBVIOIUSLY not WHITE!

Yum!

Anyway, go! Check this movie. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Guess what I have playing OVER AND OVER in my head?

Give up?

Well, I don’t blame you for not guessing it right because it’s not a song.

No. It’s a FREAKING SENTENCE. In a FREAKING FRENCH ACCENT:

“If you wish to see the chef, you will have to wait until all the other customer have gone.”

OVER AND OVER…and OVER my HEAD!

Of course, it’s from my monkey’s favourite movie, Ratatouille, WHICH we have watched almost every day since we got it. We got it some time in December.

“Anton Ego is just another customer. LEZ COOK!”

ARRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!

It won’t stop!

A-NY-WAY. I can still talk to you, even though I have Collette babbling away in my head….

So, this weekend? Some interesting things transpired.

I drank my first Starbucks Chai Tea Latte of 2008…. Yes I did. I had it with soy milk — mmmm….so creammmy and sweet! Why am I not freaking out at myself in my usual self-denigrating style? Because I’m happy about it.

Once a week, Gorgeouses. I’m allowing myself my favourite thing in the whole world once a week. Because this diet thing sucks. Yes, BECAUSE this diet thing sucks, I’m allowing myself one day a week to have my favourite things. And, that day would be Saturday.

So, this Saturday, I sipped my chai in a new way: savouring every single little sip! I enjoyed my favourite Italian grilled vegetable sandwich. And, I munched on my favourite Sunspire Sundrops (the all-natural edition of M&Ms). Mmmmm….

I also mixed all these treats with a healthy dose of speed walking (not the geeky kind), and a healthy, home-cooked dinner. Check it…CHILEH:

That looks a bit like vomit, doesn’t it…. Well, it tasted better than it looks. Josh-O and the monkey loved it. So there!

I also bought a pilates DVDV (as the monkey calls it…hee!). We’ll see how that goes.

In other news…, Josh-O and I (well, I) decided that we needed to watch some quality FILMS for once — instead of just the usual action/adventure movies we love. So, we rented Elizabeth. And, it was fabulous. Kate Blanchett is probably my favourite actress now. She was unbelievable and beautiful and, like, soooo Elizabeth. I’m also in love with Geoffrey Rush as Sir Francis Walsingham….

HEART!

Most of all, HOWEVER, I love love LOVED Daniel Craig as the psycho priest…. I WISH I could find a picture of him in his sexy Elizabethan priest costume, but, ALAS, I can’t. So, I give you the closest thing to it:

HAAARRRRR!!!

So, yeah, Josh and I did the intellectual thing and LOVED this movie. Only problem with it was that, about halfway through, I realized I’d seen it already. Hellooo! Oh well. Still loved it. And, can’t wait to see Elizabeth: The Golden Age, even if it IS supposed to be mediocre. Because I love me some period flicks and, of course, SOME CLIVE OWEN as Sir Walter Raleigh….

Can I get a HAAAARRRRRRR!!!

And, in still OTHER news….

Today, at a 9:30am birthday party (thankyouverymuch), I resisted THIS:

And, instead had this:

How very, very boring.

Hmph…, cheaty little monkey….

“If you wish to see the chef, you will have to wait until all the other customer have gone.”

Look at him….

He sleeps…. Yes. He now sleeps for more than 20 minute bouts at night ‘cuz, the other day, I rediscovered the beautiful art of swaddling. He’s been sleeping all swaddled like this for, like, FOUR hours now. “Why aren’t I sleeping, then,” you ask? Because I had a nice long nap today. And, because I’m FREAKING addicted to this:

The sugar! The chocolaty goodness! Ohhhhmmmm….Bliss….La. I suppose it’s part of my WeightWatchers Online diet (speaking of which, I lost FOUR POUNDS this week!). But, I could be eating or drinking healthier or lower-caloric things instead, you know? I’m WIRED from this stuff. I’m telling you. And, as of now, I’m KICKING it out of my house. BOOT!

A-ny-way….

You recommended that I use my sling a little more to soothe the ever crying rascal. Until now, I’ve only been using my beloved Pippalily sling when I go walking (outside, mall-shopping, etc.). But, you’re right, I TOTALLY need it in the house, too. When the rascal’s having one of his “crying marathons,” he needs to be ON me. So, check it: this evening, I made dinner…with him ON me:

Look how into it he is! He was awake the whole time. Watching EVERYTHING. He was totally fascinated….

Like, wazzup with his hair line? He’s a total MONK! Ha! LOVE!

So, yes, the sling idea was BRILLERS. Thank you. Mwah!

I’ve been cooking every day. It helps with the diet…. Wanna see what I cooked tonight? It was deelish, and, of course, I snuck some pureed cauliflower in it….

It’s a salmon-noodle dish. And, it’s FAB. I got the recipe from this, one of my FAVE cookbooks (click the pic for deets):
