Look what Josh-O had the NERVE to bring into my house.

I’m never sending him grocery shopping again! …Wait a minute.
By the way, I can’t see what I’m typing because Minden has plopped himself between me and my computer, is massaging my boobs with his puffy little paws and kissing the CARP out of my face! EW, and ddjafskddddddddd he just sat on my hand. EW, and I think he just farted like a bulldog. What did you get into today, Meenot!? Honestly? He never does that. It freaking REEKS right now. Oh, wait a minute. MARGE is sitting over there…looking guilty. Must have been MARGE. Because Minden’s nothing short of perfection.
A-ny-way, as I was saying. Josh brought Oreo cookies AND Maltesers into my house?!? AND, those healthy spelt ginger snaps that I CAN’T RESIST — because they’re supposed to be healthy, so, like, why not eat them? BECAUSE, not so much healthy when you eat the whole bag in one sitting…. Ahem. I think they call it “moderation”? Yea, well, moderation and I have issues. MALTESERS! He brings MALTESERS into my house! And, don’t get me started on ONLY THE BEST COOKIE SANDWICH IN THE WORLD, either. OY!
Enough of that. So, Josh-O is a BIG obstacle in my dieting efforts. But, I’m passing the tests and resisting. And, losing weight. Totally losing weight. One healthy pound a week. So, it should stay off. For good. I’m telling you, exercise is the key! Just do it!
In other news, Josh-O is taking the monkey skating for the first time AS WE SPEAK.

She had so much fun! No, really! LOVED it. Wants to “GO AGAIN, JOOOOSH! C’WE GO AGAIN?” Have I told you she calls her daddy “Josh”?
I feel like I should be there to cheer her on and witness this momentous event in her Canadian life. But, body is still aching everywhere (the down side of exercising right there). Body is run down. To the core. I’m doing everyone, including THE WORLD, a YUGE service by plunking my arse down on this here couch and chilling for as many HOURS as possible. Getting more than two consecutive hours of sleep per night would also be beneficial. But, alas, the rascal has other plans for me each night….
Hey, I finished Eat Pray Love. Miss it already. Am on to new book. The Other Boleyn Girl.
Watching 2 hours of Clive Owen as Walter Raleigh last night inspired me to get right onto this book.

You’re welcome, ladies…. And, YES, totally see this movie. It’s not as good as the first Elizabeth, but CLIVE. Need I say more?
So far so good. If you haven’t read Eat Pray Love, you’re lucky. Because you have yet to go on one incredible journey. The book’s definitely not for everyone. Some people LOATHE it. But, it was paradise for me.
Kay, one more picture from our weekend, and I’m outtie to eat ginger snaps and sleep and maybe THROW OUT the rest of the bag. I know, a waste of COOKIES. But, this is serious business.
Here — took this picture just for YOU. So you could feel like YOU WERE THERE. Because I know you wish you were….

You totally feel like you’re there, right Gorgeouses? Look at those special effects! State of the ART! TRY 1.5 hours of THAT…..
The Backyardigans! We went to The Backyardigans LIVE show on Friday night! It was a wee bit painful, but the monkey LOVED it. BOINGA BOINGA!
Here’s us watching the show….

The rascal was TOTALLY into it, believe it or not! So cute. His little head was bobbing with the characters — following them from one side of the stage to the other. Yeah, he bobs his head when he looks around. It’s too cute!
Oh yeeeahhhh! So, what’d you do this weekend? Reading anything good?
UPDATE: I just forced Josh-O to hide the ginger snaps. I can resist the Oreos and Maltesers because I’m on a bit of a whole-foods kick. But, those spelt ginger snaps have GOT TO GO. He thought I was kidding when I asked him to hide them. But, OH NO! NOT KIDDING. All I know is that they’re somewhere in the basement. And, I don’t go to the basement much because the cat litter and the laundry machine are there.

I’m reading Into the Wild, good, not great (in my opinion) but certainly and interesting read. And fairly short.
I am so looking forward to Eat, Love, Pray.

I would so be reading that book too right now, but alas I signed up for not one but two book clubs (hey two mom’s nights out!!! score!) but I have to read “one flew over the coocoo’s nest” and this other book too. Not liking the crazy book.
yeah, you can’t send the hubby to the store cuz they always come back with just junk. Luckily mine will bring home what was on his list…but he adds stuff (a huge sucker for the end caps.) oh well.
what did I do this weekend…mostly a lot of nuttin. Took DD to a playdate and dh came home on Sat. Then Church and Dh left again on Sunday…we got slammed with snow, so hiding inside (cuz I am allergic to it now.)

My husband brought home apple pie, there is no resisting that!! In fact I have to admit that apple pie was my lunch yesterday that’s how little I can resist it!
I’m going to attempt reading Pillars of the Earth next week while we are away but it’s so huge it’s scaring me! I may have to try eat, pray, love. I would probably be able to finish that one for sure!!
LD March 3rd, 2008 at 8:27 am
I’m also reading the Other Boleyn Girl. I like it, but I’m finding it really slow. I can usually read a book in a week easily - often 2 - but I’m on week 2 of this book and only halfway. Must be the distracting cover!
I felt the same way when I finished eat.pray.love - i totally missed it. Weird.

Have a great week!

I’m reading the Other Boleyn Girl too and LOVING it. Seriously, I didn’t know if I would be able to get into it, but I can’t put it down.
Jana March 3rd, 2008 at 10:20 am
We were at the same place at the same time! It was strange to watch choreographed mascots but at least the songs were fun.
Good luck not thinking about those hidden ginger snaps.

I can’t resist the oreos either. They are evil! (but what are Maltesers? never heard of them…)
The book looks great but I can never find time to read—and I miss it so much!!! Must find time…

JMC March 3rd, 2008 at 11:44 am
Ha! I always have my husband hide the junk food, too. But then, in the midst of a craving, I go searching the garage until I find it. So it doesn’t usually work for me.

I have to stop bringing junk food into the house, too, because I have NO will power. None. Zip.
sigh
And how the heck do you find time to read?!

My boys started playing hocket at 3.5 years old. At first they just put the gear on, learn to skate with an extra 20 lbs. and hold a stick. Everytime I see the Tim HOrtons commercial I want to cry…’cause this is the first year we have had NO hockey as I mentioned before the oldest moved out to BC and my 18 year old is too busy with school and work. Tic toc…tic toc life’s too short I should have had more NOT…just trying to make a rhyme for you. If you want a way to keep yourself from eating fatting foods like Oreos and fries…look at the rim of a home deep fryer…actually do more, try and clean it then think of that as your arteries…it worked for me for quite a while, but I was so grossed out by the sight of the deep fryer I got rid of it…other than the roles on hanging over my pants ….that visual is gone (the deep fryer that is) I know I ramble.

Oreos…yum…sorry, but you did put that HUGE picture right there!
You have more willpower than me…I would be searching.

Love the skating shot, yay monkey! I can not show this post to my daughter, she adores the Backyardigans. She loves Tasha, talks about her all the time and dances with the video her brother got her for Christmas.
Man those cookies would already be in my tummy, you are so good:)
oh and I read the Other Boleyn Girl a few months ago and it was slow to get into, but it was alright.

The Monkey liked ice skating?! I guess if you live in Canada it’s a given, isn’t it? I’ve had such horrible experiences ice skating that I will never go again! A date even tried to take me once and I told him no. I’m glad she enjoyed it.

I just read, “My Sister’s Keeper” by Jodi Picoult (not very uplifting). I am reading “Eat, Pray, Love” (off and on, in between and while nursing my 3 month old baby boy). I am also reading the new Oprah book, “A New Earth”… I’m on maternity leave - I am indulging (?) in the Oprah show for the first time in my life.

My Haley is also embarking on The Other Boleyn Girl (which I loved, BTW). She knows she shouldn’t see the movie until she reads the book. I guess I did something right as a Mom. I told her that if her worst vice in life is buying books, she’s going to turn out pretty well! I did…well, kind of.

I was first introduced to ginger snaps by a naturopath who used ot be in my office. I think because of that I made some sort of “health food” association in my head. They sell them at the pharmacy in my building (as well as Lara Bars-which are the greatest thing ever!) and I have on occasion made it lunch on a friday if I forgot to eat since 7, and have no actual food with me. Then I realized that a bag has 1400 calories (imagine the noise I’d make as I loosen my tie uncomfortably-a la Jon stewart).
I find it funny that I actually calculate “well if I eat half the bag”.
I wondered how backyardagins- swingin’ to the sixties was.
We did the diego show last year, which actually was a solid show. sets and everything.

try “Skeletons at the Feast”, the new one from Chris Bohjalian (sp?), the author of Midwives, Law of Similiars, etc. It is wonderful, moving, great characters, sad though, for those who may want a lighter read.
