I took this photo with my blackberry last night, OHHH, around 12am when I finally got to bed. He’s in my bed. He’s FULLY not sleeping. He’s pretending.
The Rascal has mercilessly taken up my entire pillow AND side of the bed for the past couple of weeks, and, as you can see, I finally put my foot down. At 12am last night, when I lifted his red-faced, whimpering little self out of his crib, I told him he was NOT allowed to sleep with me UNLESS he moved his heavy little head to the VERY end of my pillow.
So, there he is. He understands everything. His head is at the VERY end of my pillow — between our two pillows — and he’s FACE DOWN. I obviously didn’t want him sleeping face down. But, he insisted. He was ACTUALLY going to obey the rules. And, lo and behold, I slept last night, I SLEPT LAST NIGHT, with the cheaty little guy beside me. Only his heavy little head ended up on my back and then by my feet. We are getting this co-sleeping thing down to a science. As my boyfriend Tim Gunn would say, we are MAKING IT WORK. Even though we are so not the co-sleeping type. At all.
I secretly love it, though. The morning cuddles, ESPECIALLY, are irresistible. Oy!
Oh, hey! I’m over at Canada Moms Blog. Come see how long it’s been since I last went to YOGA, and WHY.

More power to you!! My daughter is already doing a full 360 degree turn when she sleeps and she just started crawling. I have a feeling this will be a long co-sleeping road.

EVERY NIGHT I have to go and move my youngest daughter over because she hogs up all of my space. Once I get her moved it’s fine but I walk into the room and she’s sprawled everywhere and I’m all, “seriously? REALLY?” Because how do the smallest people take up ALL the space?!

see? I knew it would work out for you. Isn’t that first night of sleep, bliss?
and for you and humpsNbump they DO eventually sleep in their own bed. As for taking up the entire bed…well yes, it does happen. I ended up side-car-ing the crib to our bed to give us more room. the kid seriously would spin 180 in the night. I don’t know why but I usually ended up the one with feet in my back.
I kinda thought she might want to sleep in my bed while DH was gone, but she didn’t ask, I didn’t offer. I think she prefers her privacy now.

So sweet. We’re actually trying to ease our son into sleeping the whole night in his crib at present (he’s sleeping there until 2am, when he nurses and then crashes with Mommy).

We’re co-sleeping too. I don’t particularly like it – and I never thought of myself as a co-sleeping kind of parent. But there’s only so long you can go without sleep. 18 months was my limit. Seriously.

It is particularly wonderful when she pulls off her diaper in the middle of the night and pees in our bed

Both my kids are usually in bed with us before morning. The jousting for pillow space goes on all night.

he is too cute!!! I love co-sleeping on occasion, the warmth from having your babies so close to you at their most vulnerable, knowing they’re safe beside you…oy is right!
your blog on Canada Mom’s was AMAZING today! it is very true for a lot of us & the reason I never make it to the gym, or let my hair look horrible before making an appt. I have Wii Fit, which I love but lately I would MUCH rather be watching TV while googling than moving my butt off that couch!

I love his little bum! It is so cute. My 2 year old co-sleeps with us for the most part. It is only on the rarest of occasions that he sleeps in his crib for a full night… or even part of a night. I feel your pain!

Julia has co slept with us since she was born, it makes nights soooo much better. Now I need to get her into her own room. No idea how I am going to succeed but I am thinking of it.
Morning cuddles are the best!

What is up with our toddlers?
My little monkey has been sleeping in her crib for months, and lately, she refuses to do it. And because I need to sleep, I gave in and let her come up to my bed. And yes, I have had to lay down the rules because she likes to take up the whole bed with her tiny body. Don’t ask me why, but she manages to push me to the edge of the bed every night! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I gotta say that may be the only thing that’s good about a husband that travels a lot – I only have to share my bed with my 4 yr old. She’s FINALLY out grown the jimmy legs.
I guess all I can say is enjoy it – soon enough he’ll be a teenage boy grunting one word answers at you and addicted to video games
