Congratulations on your new nephew!

We don't even have a Splash Pad at any of our zoos...but I bet they'd be tons of fun!

Zoos help the animal kingdom too!

1. Humans go to zoos and learn about animals and begin to care about what happens to them. Then humans work to save the planet.

2. Zoos do research on animals, finding ways to help them in the wild.

3. Zoos are often the last refuge for some animals. As some animals become extinct zoos are sometimes the only place they can exist! Zoos often help to prevent extinctions with their breeding programs, sometimes even breeding new animals to be released in the wild.

In the last 25 years or so many zoos have been working to improve conditions for animals in their care by providing more natural habits for them. Sadly for us humans that often means it is harder to actually see the animal in their display! But that is a small price to pay for keeping them happier and healthier. (I do not think lights at night would be right. You could mess up their sleep patterns.)

And truly the zookeepers do love the animals and do their best to keep them well cared for.

So there are lots of reasons to feel good about supporting the zoo!

Congrats for the new nephew, yay!!!
The Monkey is so cute, with the "thank you jaguar!" So sweet! I feel exactly like you do toward zoos. I love the animals and feel immense joy when I can see them, but at the same time, I feel so sad for them... I like the way you're approaching this with your kiddos though!

Wow! I can't believe how big the kids are getting! It just seems like yesterday you were preggers with the Rascal!

Congrats on becoming an aunt! How exciting!

I don't have huge issues with the zoo because the animals seem to be taken care of. But I HATE circuses and how they treat animals :(

Hi Haley, congrats on becoming an Auntie again. Best wishes to your sister and her family. We adopted animals at the zoo, if you look on the board you will see my babies names :) Hope all is well, let me know when you are going to be in my 'hood and we can meet for ice cream with the kiddies.
