I am going to write more about yesterday’s post because, between the comments and the emails people felt were too personal to post here, many of you want to talk about it…. And I’m happy, honoured, to oblige.
Truthfully, I didn’t mean to GO THERE last night. I was too tired to write anything really, and I’ve been feeling on the edge of blog burnout the whole week. But, that’s what came up while I was writing about NOTHING in point form. It was like, “hey wait a minute — why am I writing about my weight, AGAIN?” It just bubbled up like that. And there it was.
Anyway, I’m going to write more on the weekend. For now, I want to not dwell on weight or eating or anything related. (So, when I mention the ballet, let’s pretend none of the dancers are or look remotely anorexic.)
I just got back from the most incredible production of Romeo and Juliet tonight. If you live in Toronto and have the chance to go, please treat yourself. The show runs until March 22.

I cried BIG BULBOUS RASCAL TEARS in the tragic final scenes of this ballet. And, Gorgeouses, I didn’t even cry during BEACHES.
It was just SO GOOD. THAT GOOD. I cried because it was THAT GOOD. Because the original story, the dancing, the music, the costumes, the POETRY — all of it — was brilliant.
And here I have to give a special mention to the dancer who played Juliet — Sonia Rodriguez. I haven’t seen anyone do Juliet like that since Veronica Tennant….

Another special mention goes to this guy — who played Mercutio….

Yeah, that’s Piotr Stanczyk. I’ve seen him in several ballets now, and my eyes are always drawn to him. He is FABULOUS and CHARISMATIC and lovely to watch. Indeed, Stanczyk, Rodriguez and Zdenek Konvalina (who played Romeo, and also deserves special mention) are reasons why Karen Kain’s new-and- improved National Ballet of Canada is better than ever.
I know this post is probably boring for most of you. I mean, who goes to the ballet?* But, I was profoundly moved by this particular ballet, and that’s worth expressing here. I was so moved that I just had to thank with this small blog tribute the ballet company that works SO HARD to move us.
*I wish more people would go to the ballet…. Support your city’s arts! Love!

I was just thinking about your post yesterday and it made me think of this technique I use (I should use it more) called EFT (I e-mailed you about it ages ago) it is when you talk through your feelings mixed in with affirmations while tapping on accupressure points. It is amazing. When you do it you start with a general problem like “I am feeling stressed” and by the end you usually end up uncovering the real problem, you just didn’t realize what it was. What you did in your post was very similar to that.

It’s always one of my resolutions to go and see more ballet (as the full 4 times in my life that I’ve seen a life performance were really really good….2 of them were in Moscow…incredible!)
thanks for reminding my resolution that I never keep

Oh I wish I could go to the ballet! I had a membership for the Grands Ballets Canadian in Montreal last year, and I LOVED it! But this year, I have no money so, no ballet
I was also doing ballet myself until last year but again, money money money! I miss dancing on my toes!
Have a great day sweet Haley! xoxox

I went to see Romeo and Juillet on Wednesday night. I’ve never been to the ballet before and I’m not a huge fan of dance…but I loved it. It was so beautiful and the dancers were amazing! The costumes, the set, the music…everything was fantastic.

I love the ballet. But! Having been the dancer and choosing to go to school instead of being a pro, it is hard for me to watch.
Also, the ballet here is not as good as one would hope and the choreographer is a bit…off his rocker.
I am going to see several traveling Broadway shows this year. That’s as supportive as I can be at the moment.

Not boring at all! It sounds like it was absolutely amazing. Romeo and Juliet is one of my all-time favorite stories so I would’ve loved to have been there with you.

That production looks wonderful. Too bad it’s so far away from me because I would really like to check it out. Thanks for sharing with those of us who can’t see it.
