I wasn’t going to write tonight, but sometimes I just can’t help myself. I had a ROUGH day today.

It was a regular Terrible Tuesday. Morning with Rascal, pick up Monkey from preschool, rush them home, feed them lunch (I COOK NONSTOP), get them dressed and out the door AGAIN, then off to teach yoga, finally get them dressed AGAIN and HOME. Home at last.

Rascal went smoothly to bed for his nap — at 3:45 (the earliest I can get him to bed on Terrible Tuesday) — and I prepared monkey a snack of walnuts and raisins, and some In the Night Garden, and me hummus and carrots and my Macbook. Ahhhh, Macbook = BLISS; Macbook PLUS arse-on-couch= DOUBLE BLISS!

But the bliss ended all too soon.

“Mama?”

“Yes, Monkey….”

“My ear hurts.”

“NOOOO!!! Ahem. Really? Show me where.”

“Here. I don’t feel well, Mama.”

Monkey’s had a cold for the past few days. I thought it was going away…. But, I guess not. And, since her brother just had a couple of his own, I was on major EAR INFECTION ALERT.

I called her father to come PLEASE take her to the doctor. It was 4:30, and I couldn’t bear the thought of a) going out again, and b) waking Rascal up and DRESSING HIM AGAIN to go out, and c) FORCING him in his carseat one more garsh-dang time today. Alas, Josh couldn’t come home until LATE tonight (to make matters worse and the day even longer…).

I really can’t bare to babble anymore. I’ve been doing enough mindless babbling all week here — too tired from too little sleeping and too much working to think clearly. So, I’ll get to the point. I took her to the doctor. She cried for the whole hour we waited to see him. When it was, finally, our turn, Monkey was great. SO BRAVE. So adorable.

The doctor was curiously LOVELY today. Wonder what happened. Hope he didn’t read that post, eek!, or he’ll know I have a mild crush on his 75-year-old self…. I guess, then, I better not say I’ve been treating Rascal’s continued constipation rather successfully now with none other than, GASP, prune juice. PRUNE JUICE…. Oy, I digress.

Poor Monkey has an ear infection. But, really, don’t feel too bad for her. She had a grape lollipop on the way home and a dinner of STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM (well, frozen yogurt) WITH CHOCOLATE SPRINKLES (organic, all-natural, but she doesn’t need to know that), and lots and lots of kisses….

Love!
