Okay, Gorgeouses, I’m QUASI taking the night off from blogging because I have this headache, see. And, it’s my own fault! Because I bought THIS for my kids today….

BANG BANG BANG BANG BANGBANGBANGBANGBANG BANG BAAAAAANNNNNGGG!
I was TIRED (after, sigh, another night of SCREAMING), in a haze, and the thing was ON SALE. And, and, Rascal is such a DEPENDENT player. I needed a new toy desperately. I’m getting bored of all his other toys…. *cough.*
ANYWAY.
So, Valentine’s Day is on Saturday. And, apparently, it’sgrandma and papa’shere know I desperately need to GET A LIFE. So, they’ve offered to forfeit their own romantic Valentine’s Day so they can babysit our little monkeys while Josh-O and I go out on the town. How nice is THAT?
Josh even suggested we go to a vegetarian restaurant….
Methinks it’s going to be a GOOD Valentine’s day….
So, here’s where you come in.
We want to go to a movie. Josh-O and I have seen just about every movie there is to see ON VIDEO. But, we haven’t actually BEEN to a movie in I CAN’T REMEMBER HOW LONG. So, what to see? What to SEE!?
Here’s a list of the movies that are out right now (and that we’d see — i.e., no HORROR movies for me, or movies with too much violence…because I’m a delicate little flower……). Now, it’s up to YOU to tell us which movie to see. Here are your choices (And, you better comment — no more of this NOT COMMENTING business! heh. LOVE):

It’sgrandma says this one’s FABO.

I love me some TRASH. Then again, this IS the perfect rental.

Slumdog Millionaire…Paul Blart. Paul Blart…Slumdog Millionaire. Decisions decisions!

BRAD. But do I feel like crying on my first date in MONTHS?

Can’t wait to see this one…. But, will Josh be that into it?

Love me some Isla Fisher. Love me some Sophie Kinsella Confessions of a Shopaholic….HAVE to see this at some point.

I can’t WAIT to see this movie. And, it’s exactly the movie you’d see on the big screen. Hint hint. Josh and I both love a good fantasy………..
So, what do we see???
LOVE!
xo Haley-O

I vote for CORALINE! The rest you can see on video. I really want to see this one too….

Slumdog! I’m terrified of Coraline and haven’t heard a thing about the others (yes, I live in a media vacuum – save blogs of course
.

Of these movies, I’ve seen Paul Blart (don’t waste your money) and He’s Not That Into You (kinda cute–gave it a B+–definitely a good date night movie). We are going to see Slumdog on Valentine’s so that would be my vote. I’ve heard so many great things from everyone whose seen it. I don’t think you can go wrong with that one.
porter said, February 13th, 2009 at 1:11 am
I want to see the Brad Pitt flick, I heard it’s amazing…but it sounds to me that you really want to see Coraline so go and see that! You can’t go wrong with either!
Lindsey said, February 13th, 2009 at 1:29 am
Slumdog would be my choice… it isn’t winning all those awards for nothing!! I plan to go to my first movie ALONE on Valentines Day. He’s just not that into you is on my list… me time!! Perfect alone movie on Vday!
Kalli said, February 13th, 2009 at 4:15 am
I’d pick ‘he’s just not that into you’. I love a good rom-com (so does MrT!!).
SciFi Dad said, February 13th, 2009 at 8:36 am
Having seen none of those, my vote is for Benjamin Button. You can’t go wrong with Aldous Huxley.
kgirl said, February 13th, 2009 at 9:09 am
Coraline does look pretty cool, and you can be sure that he’s just not that into you will be sold out/full of bitter single people
Me and Chris haven’t been to the movies together since I was pregnant with Bee! Everytime we intend to, we get distracted by our uninterrupted conversation.

That’s tough. We were talking about going to a movie too, but had the same problem – what to see.
If we were going we’d be going to Paul Blart Mall Cop because it’s the kind of humour we both enjoy. But, you’re right. It’s a renter which is why we’re holding off.
So that has my vote. Only because Coraline is the kind of movie I think I’d bring Matthew too. (I haven’t read the reviews, so I don’t know if it’s age appropriate – but he wants to go so we may if it’s okay for his age)
Tough call.
We haven’t been to a movie together in ages though.

Coraline or Slumdog… Coraline would probably be better to see on the big screen… have a great time!
Maria said, February 13th, 2009 at 10:00 am
Coraline or Slumdog…saw Shopaholic & it was “good” – and that’s all. As always the book was way better & I really don’t think Josh could sit through it happily. I hear the same for He’s Just…You but I’m still going to see it with my girlfriends on Sunday.
Your fav guy, Clive Owen’s new movie opens this weekend also. I forget what it’s called but it looks like a good date movie.

I think either:
Slumdog Millionaire,
Push (see http://www.toronto.com/scifi_fantasy/movie/609377)
or
The International (see http://www.toronto.com/Drama/movie/526779?action=movie_player_spot_2)

Husb and I have actually been to a few movies lately – imagine that!
My vote is for Slumdog…it was a GREAT movie. Suspense, a love story, and it’s in another country so you get to see different scenery! I hope this wins best picture because it was great and was a “feel good” movie too.
Have’t seen Gran Torino but that is first on my list to see next. I always enjoy Clint Eastwood’s movies!
Saw Benjamin Button too and I enjoyed it, but not quite as much as Slumdog. It held my interest for all THREE HOURS, which I was surprised at. There’s nothing left to guess about with the plot though. I hope it wins for best makeup – they did a phenomenal job on that.
Those are my only opinions…have a super romantic time!!!
Renee said, February 13th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
I vote for Coraline. but even better yet, I would call in for the food and just stay at home with the dvd player or just skip the movie. why stress over what to do when you can just be alone at home?
Katie said, February 13th, 2009 at 12:39 pm
Gran Torino!!!!!!!! Absolutely the best movie I’ve seen in the past few years. Eastwood is amazing, and even though the racist commentary is very harsh, the story is the best and I loved it!
If not into a very dramatic movie, Mall Cop! I want to see it, but with only one date night a month, I have to wait 2 weeks now! Dang it!
Have fun!
Teena said, February 13th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
We’re thinking about seeing some movies this weekend too. Maybe “Gran Torino” and “Shopoholic”.
That’s nice of the grandfolks to take the kids so you and Josh can have a date. Enjoy!

We’re going to go see Slumdog Millionaire this Saturday! I can’t wait to see Shopaholic but would never ask Pierre to come.
Hope you have a terrific night out!
Happy Valentines Day.
Marie-Christine said, February 13th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
I’d say Slumdog because everybody loves it, or Benjamin Buttons for the same reason (and for Braaaaaaaad!)
I’ve see He’s just not that into you, I really like it, but I doubt a guy would enjoy it as much… I see it more as a girl-night-out sort of movie.
Have a great Valentines’ Day!!! (even though I HATE this holiday because I’m always single at that time

Coraline is my vote! I haven’t seen it, but it looks the most promising. Mall Rat – total rental – not worth bajillion dollar seats. I read a craptastic review on Shopaholic. BB too long. How To Lose A Guy – anti guy. If he’ll go see it, definitely take him up on it, but I wouldn’t use this as one of a “your choice” night movies.
Have fun!!!

Yay for V-Day! Andrew and I went to see Paul Blart, Mall Cop a few weeks ago and it was actually much better than I thought it was going to be and has a bit of a love story wound into it. I really want to see Benjamin Button so those would be my two suggestions. Enjoy your time out!

I would say slumdog but be warned it is pretty violent but an excellent, excellent movie. I loved it. 2nd choice would be Button. It is supposed to be amazing. I think Josh O will like both too. Enjoy it!
Sleepynita said, February 13th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
I would say Shopaholic or Slumdog. Sadly we all have seen Benjamin Button before (It was called Forrest Gump and it didn’t go in reverse …. http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/35b0167b17/the-curious-case-of-forrest-gump )

If I could go see a movie, I would see either He’s Just Not That into You or Coraline. They both look good. Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!!
ali said, February 13th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
not even a question.
slumdog millionaire.
i cannot even believe you are considering seeing anything else.
Cyndi said, February 13th, 2009 at 8:35 pm
I was totally thinking Coraline. Gran Torino is to deep for Valentines Day. Mall Cop is too stupid. I don’t really know what slumdog millionaire is, so no. Benjamin Button would be good, but I want to read the book first. Have you read it? If yes, that would be my second choice. He’s just not that into you is a movie to watch with girlfriends, but it does have some beautiful women in it, so he may be up for it. Wait and rent Shopaholic. Coraline looks creepy and cute and like it would make for good discussion afterward. I hope you have a great time!

Believe it or not you will laugh and laugh at Grand Torino. And cry. It has the added advantage of being a Clint Eastwood movie… so Josho will be happy too.
I think:
Coraline…
Would be a bit creepy. Ick… buttons for eyes?
Shopaholic…
and
He’s Just Not That Into You….
Too chick flickie and a bit too light for a nice grown up night out.
Benjamin Button… too long and since you have not been sleeping well lately this could be an issue.
Slum Dog Millionaire…
I say no… just because I’m contrary and the world seems to insist on saying yes.
Paul Blart Mall Cop…
Ugh.. seriously? Just does not do a thing for me. Especially on Valentine’s day.

I’m putting in my vote before reading every one elses. I vote for Gran Torino. I hear it’s great and Clint Eastwood is classic and you can reminisce about Bridges of Madison County while you watch.

I loved it.
Ive heard Gran Torino is really good too though.
So I vote for the one i have seen, because I am like that.
Have a great Vday!

CORALINE!
We considered driving to The Little City to watch it this weekend. That’s how much I want to see it. The rest will be fine as rentals, I think.

I’ll tell you all about our special Family Day tomorrow. Because, apparently, we still have the Valentine’s Day recap to get to. And, I know you’re all on the edge of your couches WAITING to hear what movie Josh-O and I ended up seeing. Was it the one YOU recommended? [...]
