I had a really intense day today, Gorgeouses. I went to Yorkville, which is arguably the chichi-est area of Toronto.
I could not believe that my typical outfit — lululemons, a black Roots T-shirt and running shoes — was BEYOND unacceptable attire in Yorkville, while it’s TYPICAL in my neck of the woods. Seriously! Where I live in Toronto, EVERYONE is wearing lululemons and running shoes. In Yorkville, everyone wears stilettos or FANCY knee-high boots, DESIGNER blouses, chandelier earings, up dos, and an unpenetrable air of confidence…. And, the MEN! Picture it: GORJ Brad-Pitt-type guy on motorcycle with DESIGNER mirrored sunglasses…. I couldn’t stop staring….
It’s not like I’VE NEVER BEEN TO YORKVILLE. I HAVE! But, I’ve never felt so out of place. I felt like I was walking the street in my PAJAMAS in the middle of New York City Fashion Week! No. Kidding. Eeek!
Anyway, I went to Yorkville by myself, in what felt like pajamas, with bits of Rascal’s lunch caked on my shirt, and, of course, cat hair on my lulus…. I’m not sure I want to talk about what I was DOING in Yorkville. It’s just not bloggable yet. Very personal. I mean, I’d tell you, and you, and MAYBE you, and, of course, YOU. But, I’m not sure I want her or her or him or that other Gorgeous to know because it’s TRAY personal, and because sometimes it’s empowering to keep a thing or two to oneself (as a seasoned blogger, I would know!). And, I could use a little self-empowerment right now…. But, I WILL say, it’s a good thing I didn’t wear my crocs. And socks.
By the way? America’s Next Top Model? Just watching it now? Thinking if SHE doesn’t get booted tonight for getting “stuck” in her poses, Elina has this competition in the bag….

This girl is HAWT. I mean HAWT. And a VEGAN and animal activist to boot.
Sigh…. I need a vacation. I told Rascal that today. I said, “Rascal, mommy needs more than 2 hours in Yorkville to herself…. Mommy needs a FULL-ON vacation.” He didn’t appear to care.
I think it’s because this week has been so crazy. SO much going on. Lots of yoga teaching, appointments, birthdays, Rascal screaming through the night again, and at/after naptime. Nutty. Frustrating.
Tomorrow will be hectic again. But, s’all good. I’ll just go to bed early so I can wake up and practice yoga — something I’m finding increasingly difficult to find time for with these two cheaty little monkeys! In fact, hmmm, maybe I’ll do some right…now. Namaste….

Geez, your description reminds me of everytime I walk into Nordstrom (a high class department store on the west coast), like everyone is looking at you thinking ‘Gosh, what the heck is she doing here?’, strange. You’re right though, that girl is gorgeous!

My daily attire is worst than yours … I’m soooo not a Yorkville gal.
I have a meeting downtown tomorrow so I guess I’ll have to comb my hair …

I felt that way in Norstroms too. They’re just way too stuck up their own bottoms in there. I couldn’t even get a sales clerk to tell me to leave, much less help me find something. needless to say, I won’t ever go back.
I hope that you were at least able to find what you needed there or have your vacation.
I make no appologies for my look. This is how I am…I’m comfortable. You won’t see me on “What Not To Wear” cuz while I may be wearing it, I don’t care to change and there’s no way someone is tossing my comfy clothes in the trash! LOL
I’m sure Rascal is just having a rough week…once things get back into some sort of routine he’ll be fine.

You know, this reminds me of a question I had- I know you aren’t supposed to work out right before bed, but what about yoga?
I feel like a sore thumb quite often…

Ohhh. So intriguing about what you were doing in Yorkville. You’ll tell us one day, right?
I’m with you on the vacation. I would love one.
I hate when I feel my clothes are all wrong. But, the effort to get all dressed up to shop sometimes baffles me.
I mean, shower and look nice, but seriously stilletos … it’s hard to shop in stilletos.

Oh and not that I go to Yorkville very often, but when I do…I hear ya! I feel MORE than left out! Even when I’m “trying” to look nice.

Oh ya. I always feel so out of place in Yorkville. When I was working around there you should have seen the looks I got while dressed in my construction close slopping mud all over the sidewalk.

I don’t think Yorkville boasts the most stylish people in Toronto by a long shot – money doesn’t buy style…

I hope you managed to do that yoga yesterday!
I didn’t know about Yorkville, but now I don’t want to go there! (well except for the Brad-Pitts everywhere……..) Anyway, I think stilettos should not be worn if ANY sort of walking is involved. So stick to the Crocs (and socks?) and be happy (ad comfy)
I hope you could find what you where in that weird place for anyway.
