Oh. My. Gosh. WHY do I do this to myself…. I got a facial today. Here’sapicture (eeeeek!)….

There is NO way to make this picture flattering. I’ve tried cropping, special effects…. The only thing that SEMI-worked was shrinking it…. But, I just wanted you to see that I ACTUALLY went. And, it is pretty classic.

I went for my facial at my FAVOURITE place: Pure + Simple. Apparently, this is also a favourite place of RACHEL McADAMS — who recently had a facial there! And, look at HER skin….

ALSO, a few months ago, I bumped into one of my favourite dancers of all time there (AND sorrily attempted to introduce myself…): KAREN KAIN!

GORJ! And, totally…LOVE!

Sigh…. Anyway. The facial was amazing. Kim, the esthetician, was very gentle. Usually the “extraction” part of the facial is PAIN-FUL. But, not today. Or, maybe I was just reeeeeally happy to be there….

The best part of the facial had to be the massage. Kim massaged my feet, legs, hands, arms, neck, scalp and face. And, OMIGOSH. My body was TINGLING with thanks. It was SO hard for me to relax my body, though. My body was like an abused animal in the kind hands of its saviour. It just couldn’t let go. It couldn’t trust that I was actually doing something nice for it. Isn’t that a little sad?

Lying there treating my body to something so pleasurable, yet NOT DESTRUCTIVE, was so FOREIGN to me! So strange! Usually, the pleasures I indulge in, and the very things I associate with pleasure, are riddled with guilt: chai teas, chai teas, CHAI TEAS,* late-night eating, chilling in front of the TV when I “SHOULD” (bad word) be cleaning the house or sleeping….

Experiencing pleasure SHEERLY for pleasure’s sake is something we ALL have to do. Trust me, Gorgeouses. It was so special and gratifying. And, Kim was the first to say, “You have to love yourself.” Hmmm. True true.

I left the kids with it’sgrandma for two hours so that I could go show my body some love, treat my body to the care and pampering it deserves, and to just indulge FOR ONCE.

I came home and I SCHVITZED! Dang BUSTED air conditioner. You see, Gorgeouses, getting a facial was PERF because, now, I’m sweating BUCKETS out of WIDE OPEN pores….
