Diet Day 1 was FABULOUS! It really helps me to think about my diet as a yoga practice. Every time I wanted to cave and go grab a chai tea latte, I thought of my yoga mat. I thought about how disciplined and focused I am on the mat, and I applied that practice off the mat.

I ate the breakfast Nutritionist recommended, and I DID FEEL BALANCED. What a great way to start the day — seriously! When I got hungry midmorning, I grabbed one of those healthy Kashi bars and some cheese, which Monkey enjoyed, too. For lunch, we both had a sandwich: I had my perfect wrap, and Monkey had toast with almond butter. We shared an apple and kiwi for dessert. I put on some classical music, too, and EVERYONE — me, the Rascal and Monkey — was relaxed, CALM, balanced. The day was not its usual CHAOS…!

In the spirit of LISTENING TO MY BODY and giving it the balance it craves, I shut off the computer and took a lo-ho-hong nap this afternoon. Monkey went to it’sgrandma’s house, and the rascal and I, and Minden passed out on my bed….

(Before I go on, Gorgeouses, can I just tell you? I so want to hang out up there in my blog header. That little monkey guy’s so lucky he lives there…. Wouldn’t it be cool if flowers and waves and stuff swirled around us all day?)

AND, without further adieu, here are thirteen of the most GORJ Hollywood bodies and their fitness/diet philosophies. If thinking about yoga doesn’t motivate you, these sure will! Enjoy!

1. GWYNETH PALTROW — Gwyneth Paltrow wakes up at 4:30 am every morning to practice yoga. “I’m really not a morning person at all,” she told In Style, “It’s just sheer determination. I’m very strict with myself. When I practice six days a week and eat clean food, I feel much better.”

2. JESSICA BIEL — “I work out like three times a week with a trainer [Jason Walsh]. I also do yoga and I play volleyball in the summer. I walk my dogs all the time. I love to be outdoors.”

3. JENNIFER GARNER — (Apr. ’08) “I am exercising again. I started feeling like I didn’t have time or energy for it, but now I realize I didn’t have energy because I wasn’t exercising. So I work out with my trainer or do an hour of Pilates at 6 or 7 A.M. I’m done by the time my household is awake. I don’t do it every day, and if I need to cancel, I cancel. I’m just trying to feel good. We also have a pool, and I’ve been known to swim laps.”

4. CHRISTINA AGUILERA — gained 40 pounds while preggers due to mayja candy cravings, and she lost it “with 90-minute, five-day-a-week workouts with a trainer and no more white bread.” Check Cheaty Gossip for mo deets!

5. SALMA HAYEK — “I thought, I’m just going to lose all the weight superfast because I’m going to breast-feed, and everybody tells me that if you breast-feed, it’s going to come off like this. It’s a lie! I’m proud of the weight that I’ve lost, and the rest is going to go when it’s time to go.”

6. REESE WITHERSPOON — “We keep [tv and video games] down to 30 minutes to an hour a day. Everything else they have to do outside: exercise outside, play outside. We run a lot and they like riding bikes and scooters. [Ava] can run for 30 minutes. She’s 8; she has tons of energy!” On staying fit: “Yoga. You know, weights and stuff like that.”

7. NIKKI TAYLOR — “Yoga is the best exercise because it strengthens your body’s core without straining it and helps you develop breathing techniques so you can get the most from your workout.”

8. KATE HUDSON — “When I’m working, I give myself one day a week to splurge, usually Friday night. Otherwise I just try to stay away from wheat, dairy and white flour. I love food so much. The desert island food for me would be pizza. I love pineapple on pizza. I like pepperoni. I always have a Tombstone in the fridge.”

9. CARRIE UNDERWOOD — “I think about what I look like probably more than I should. But I think everybody is her own worst critic. Some days I step out of the shower, put my lotion on, and I’ll be like ‘Ugh, ew, ew.’”

10. ALI LARTER — “Working out has always been part of my life…. Now that I’m in my 30s, it’s become even more important to take care of myself…. This [two-to-three-mile run] is nonnegotiable…. I don’t think about it, I just do it. I never, ever miss my workout. Never!”

11. LEEANN RIMES — “I usually eat a bowl of oatmeal with agave nectar, dried cherries, and walnuts in the morning. I have a protein shake after the gym, then grilled chicken, a whole-wheat pita, and humus for lunch…. Come afternoon there’s another snack, then, for dinner, I might have trout with spinach sautéed in garlic and olive oil and a piece of dark chocolate for dessert.”

12. JULIA ROBERTS — (on losing weight post baby:) “I have been working out, but listen, it is 97 percent genetics. Don’t let anybody tell you any crap about anything else, because that’s what it is: 97 percent genetics and 3 percent just get your ass moving. Because I’ve never met a cookie I didn’t like.”

13. SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR — “I’m not much of a junk food eater. I like pretzels, but I’d rather have steak. I’d rather have a great meal. I’d rather dine.”
