New Year’s Eve….
While you were out partying with friends and fam, or cuddling at home with a loved one or teddy bear…. Josh and I were…. Are you ready?
I don’t think you’re ready for this.
No, one cannot be ready for this.
While you were out doing sane and normal things (or insane and unusual things — the insaner and unusualer, the better!), Josh-O and I were….
….
….
WATCHING……
….
erm….
OKAY WE WERE WATCHING WILLOW!
Yes, THAT Willow….

If you MUST know, we BOUGHT it. Yes. Paid for it. We left the video store empty-handed and dejected — there was NOTHING to rent — and, when we went to our corner drugstore to buy diapers, we saw it there and bought it. For $9.99. We’d planned on watching it as a family and covering the monkey’s eyes during the scary dog-rat parts. But, she was tired and more interested in her pony-in-a-purse. We put her to bed. And, we watched it ourselves.
While you were counting down with family and friends — at a party, or even cuddling in front of the TV at home — Josh-O and I were watching Willow.
I guess it could have been worse: good friends of ours stayed home, and the two of them played Rockband — I’m guessing HE did the vocals and guitar and SHE played keyboards…yeah, fashizzle. Later they watched Dreamgirls….
Hmmm, though. Maybe our night of Willow‘s worse.
Josh-O and I didn’t actually notice the humour in it all until after the clock struck 12 and we called my PARENTS (first we KISSED, of course!) at their house — where they were HOSTING A DINNER WITH FRIENDS!
The only saving grace (at least for me) was Val Kilmer….

The OLD Val, that is….

Oh, and the special effects, of course (WATCH THIS for topless Val footage!!! SOOOOO worth it)……….
Ohhhhhh yeeeeaaaaaah!
So what’d you do on New Year’s Eve? Bet you can’t top what WE did!?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Willow! Too funny. Why not be cozy at home on New Year’s Eve??? Sounds like fun.
Husb and I went to a hockey game, then came home. We went to sleep before midnight, which is fine with me!

Oh, LG, I LOVE the idea of being home on New Years, cuddling in front of the TV! You just better be watching something a wee bit cooler (‘specially if you’re going to rent or BUY your movie) than WILLOW!

Hehehe! I’m sorry to say that I used to LOVE that movie when I was younger. LOVE IT!
My evening wasn’t that much more exciting. The hubby, the boys and I threw our own little party at home with finger foods, and juice in wine glasses. The boys were thrilled.
Then the hubby and I watched tv for the rest of the night. Weehoo! Party!
I’m just impressed I actually stayed up until midnight this year.
I’m such a nerd.

That sounds wonderful! It was our first choice (at home with our kids and a movie) but my ma and pa were still here and we were invited to friends so off we went:)
I loved Willow. Now I want to watch it too! wahhhh! lol.
Now that you have 2 kids the coolness is the first thing to go – sorry!
Happy New year!

Sounds like a pretty nice night to me:)We rang in the New Year finishing off a rousing game of Life with our 10 and 13 year olds and my Dad. So rousing that Dh and I were both nodding off and praying for the game to be over so we could go to sleep! Right at midnight after kisses and hugs we were all off to bed.
Happy New Year!

We watched the Bourne Ultimatum. Slightly less dorky than Willow, but still a rocking New Years. Oh, and we had chips and dip.
And I have delicious mineral water to toast the New Year with.
We know how to party in our house!!!
Actually, we also flipped between the different new year’s shows and laughed at the bands. It was fun in a quiet kind of way.

Happy New Year to the O’s!
We spent the early evening with friends (three toddlers) and then came home to watch some Pretender (we’re halfway through S4… MTM is SO sad). MTM went to bed at 11:15pm, but couldn’t sleep and came back down at 5 to 12 to say Happy New Year, give me a kiss, and then stumble back to bed. Yeah, we’re old and married. (But at least we didn’t watch Willow! What’s next? Waterworld? The Postman?)

I got ya beat. We stayed in and watched home videos. Let me just say that my rockin 80′s aqua-net hair has got Val Kilmer dressed as a woman, craddling a baby beat by a mile.
Happy New Year!

Gah! Willow frightened me as a child. I can never watch it again. Val Kilmer as frightens me…to this day.

Happy New Year Haley!
Well, we watched Shrek2 (bonus, it was on tv!) and ate snacks (whole wheat chips (lol) and pistachios .. brie and crackers .. nice red wine and gingerale for the boy…). Then Scott slept on the couch from 10pm t’il 5 to midnight when I woke him up for the ball dropping on t.v. Afterwards he said .. “that’s it?” .. so ya, exciting New Years.. but SO nice to be home, warm with family!

We watched a marathon of the Twilight Zone then watched the ball drop, then more Twilight Zone. Happy New Year!

Sounds like a good New Year’s Eve though
. Doesn’t need to be a flashy party to have a good time!
Enjoy and I wish you and your family a wonderful 2008!

I’ve never heard of Willow.
Val’s gotta come to the gym and get back into shape with me!

I love Val Kilmer in The Saint. He’s so hot there.
See, another reason not to stay fat. I am so doubling up my efforts to get ready for swimsuit season because if I look really good in picture, I will post it all over the internet! ROFL

I put on four layers of pants, three top layers, and my snow boots and trekked out into the dark with a bunch of people I’d met only a few days before to drink champagne and sparkling cider as Old Faithful erupted for the last time in 2007.
Did I say it was dark?

Obviously I’m on a major catch-up on blog reading. What time is better than Sunday morning at 6 when no one in the family is likely to be up for several hours after which my laptop battery will be dead and I’ll be sitting here reading Pillars of the Earth looking like that’s what I’ve been doing all morning. Hey, the book is like 1,000 pages long, this ruse could work for months!
I know there is a blog in my future about Rock Band. We tried to get Guitar Hero 3 for my son, but to no avail…it was sold out everywhere. So my husband got him Rock Band. Great gift – theoretically. Your kid is in your house with a couple of friends, so you know where he is. They are doing something musical, dare I say, educational? They’ve got their roles, guitar, drums & vocalist, defined so there is no arguing.
But here’s the lesson learned…if you have an upstairs playroom, bonus room, or whatever you call it, get it soundproofed and be sure to have solid doors at both entrance/exits. The bonus room in this house we are renting has a door between the bonus room and the hallway where the bedrooms are, but no door at the top of bottom of the stairs which lead to the kitchen. So you are cooking dinner to the not-so-dulcet tones of the drumsticks hitting plastic. Arrrrgggghhhhh!
Is that cartoon for real? Do I see what I think I see???
