On Saturday night, Josh and I went on a date. It’s been a LONG time since we’ve been out alone together. I’ve been so morning-sick that going out at night has been totally unappealing. But, on Saturday, he made firm plans: we were going to go to a casino night that our friends were organizing. Greeeaaat.
Saturday night came, and I was soooo morning-sick. Headache, nausea, exhaustion, the works (story of my life right now, I know…you know…). But, I wasn’t going to cancel. Josh-O was looking forward to the poker, and my parents were so excited to babysit. They ended up taking the monkey to an Italian restaurant and, of course, she ate pizza like the lovely little lady she is (when I’m not around…).
Josh-O dragged my butt out the door. We went for Thai food. I still didn’t feel any better. Good news was (well, not really good news…) the hosts of the poker night weren’t feeling well themselves. SO POKER NIGHT WAS CANCELED. This was a good thing not only because I had no desire to be nauseous there, but also because I was going to fake it on the poker table…. Hee! It was the only way I’d have any fun…. Josh was going over the rules of the game at dinner, and with this preggo brain o’ mine, I didn’t pick up a thing. But, I was still gonna wing it and see how long I’d last at a table of pros….
What did we do instead of going to casino night? We went to see one of my celebrity lovahs!
You know Clive Owen is my main squeeze. But, when he’s not available, it’s WILL FERRELL. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Yes, we saw Blades of Glory, and it was AWWWESOME! I laughed the entire time. The costumes, the glitter, the Best-in-Show-type satire, the figure skating jokes, and the hilarious cast — Napolean Dynamite‘s Jon Heder, The Office‘s Jenna Fischer, SNL‘s Amy Poehler, Arrested Development‘s Will Arnett, and more — can I get a whoo-whoo!
Maybe you have to be Will Ferrell’s lovah, like I am, to truly love this flick. But, I don’t think so. Just, CHECK IT!

I’m looking forward to seeing that, too. I’m always shocked by how much I like Will Ferrell….

I was never into Will Ferrell but this sounds like a pretty good recommendation from a pretty cool lady! Hope you’re doing well Haley!

I keep meaning to mention- I was out to dinner the other night (in Colorado!) and swear your twin was there- pregnant and all. I kept tellling my boyfriends, ‘it HAS to be the girl, you know, from that site Cheaty Monkey that you always ask about when it’s up on my computer!’

Will is hysterical! I remember him in SNL doing the cheerleader thing. WOW A DATE! I miss going out with the husband!

Mike and I had a date night awhile ago and we went for dinner and to see Blades of Glory as well. I loved it (I kind of fell asleep for 5 minutes, but it’s dumb comedy so I didn’t miss much – and it wasn’t boring – Matt hadn’t been sleeping)
Anyway … LOVED IT.
I love Will Ferrell too, though never in anything as much as when he was an SNL cheerleader.

the husband HATES seeing movies. he’d so much rather download ‘em and watch them for free (he’s a total pirate!) but there’s something so nice about going out for dinner and a movie!

I read your gossip column every week as emailed from the Urban Moms weekly mailer. I look forward to it every week. I am a 30 something mother of a 4 year old who has been trying to get pregnant again for the last two years. In my journey to get pregnant I have met a ton of woman along the way who have no children, and have been unsuccessfully trying for years. One thing this experience has made me realize is that we are blessed with one beautiful child and it would be really insensitive and selfish for me to complain about not having a second. Why am I saying this? I am tired of reading about how sick you are from being pregnant. Do you know how many women would love to have that problem just once in their lifetime? Many of these woman suffer in silence with their pain. I can only imagine the number of woman who read your blog and close the screen in tears after reading about how sick you are. Please think about how your comments make other women feel. I too was severely sick when I was pregnant so much so that I did not gain any weight throughout my pregnancy. I took the drugs and never complained about it. I was just so happy to be pregnant. Pregnancy is a gift. Its not a given. If you are really that sick, take the Diclectin and get over it already.

Was just going to point out that I voted for you Hales, and regardless of what asquared says, this is YOUR blog and if you want to post every day that you are under the weather you should do so, and if she doesn’t feel comfortable reading it then she doesn’t have to read it. I totally feel for her – took us two long years and much testing before we had child number one but that never made us upset when other people with lots of children spoke about them, or how tough it was to have them. To each their own. Not to sound harsh, but there is help available to get over this problem emotionally, and it is wonderful, and at least in Canada, covered mostly by OHIP. I recommend it.
As for you, you’re Haley-reffic, keep getting some rest and make sure that hubby of your stops to say hi next time I pass him in the lobby of our building!

I am so sorry that asquared felt the need to try to make you feel bad for what you choose to write about on your blog. If I had been blogging when I was pregnant it would have been full of my hate on for the smell of cooking meat and the asthma problems I had. I don’t understand the need some people feel they have to make somebody else’s life all about them. Keep writing about what you feel you need to. Lots of us are right there with you.
Love love love your blog Haley-o.

Haley – this is your space. I can totally understand asquared’s feelings and I am glad she is comfortable enough with you that she can share them. Being pregnant is physically hard…not being and wanting to be is emotional hell. There is no “right” answer here. Love to you both.

Eeek, must see this movie. And equally must vote for you darling…..!
ali said, April 18th, 2007 at 7:09 pm
okay…i could see why someone who is coming to the urbanmoms celebrity gossip site would not want to go there to read about pregnancy etc. but this place is yours….for you to talk about what you like. you aren’t saying that you don’t feel for people who are trying and can’t have kids. you aren’t saying they aren’t having it rough. but this is your outlet. you should be able to say what you want. if someone is personally offended by something you write about….they shouldn’t be reading.
Tug said, April 18th, 2007 at 8:20 pm
Oh my HOLY HELL. YES, this is YOUR blog – talk about what YOU want, & we will always ALWAYS be here!! and feel better soon… ((hugs))
LOVE Will Farrell, DON’T do movies. Cool dark places put me to sleep – ha. I’ll catch it on video when it comes out. Glad you got some laughs on your night out!!
