I’m confused. I’m confused about me. For, why on EARTH do I LOVE this show? No. Why am ADDICTED to this show?:

HBO’s Rome. I’m in LOVE with it. I watched FOUR EPISODES IN A ROW on HBO on demand this weekend. I. Could. Not. Stop. Watching. COULD NOT. I would have watched more, but there were no episodes left. I think the next episode’s coming this week. PSYCHED!
Anyway, WHY? Why am I addicted to this show? I mean, I’m confused! I’m the type who LOVES my reality shows: The Hills, America’s Next Top Model, American Idol, Big Brother, Beauty and the Geek (I could go on and on)…. And the soaps, dramas and dramedies: The Young and the Restless, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty…. And, The Office is, like, my favourite show (not including America’s Next Top Model). See what I’m saying? I’m NOT a Rome kind of girl!
And, the GORE! I can barely watch Grey’s Anatomy because of all the blood and guts; and, YET, I can watch heads and limbs being dismembered, hands being nailed to doors, torture scenes (granted with my hands covering my eyes), etc., etc.. I just don’t GET me!
But, then again…. Let’s delve a bit deeper for a sec. One of the directors of Rome?: Tim Van Patten of Sex and the City. LOVE! And, just LOOK at this GORJ cast:

Mark Antony — The HOTTY!

Atia of the Julii — The diva par excellence!

Titus Pullo — The cool guy….

Servilia of the Junii — The ageless beauty….

Lucius Vorenus — The pillar of moral and physical strength….

Octavia of the Julii — The not-as-innocent-as-she-seems one….

Gaius Octavian — The pretty boy….

Gaia — The sexpot….

Marcus Tullius Cicero — The wise one….

Eirene — The girl next door….
See? A little something for everyone. Is it no wonder I love it, then? I mean, LOVE it….
Plus, I’m SO into art — you know, with my biz and all — and the set of Rome is unfrikkinbelievable. Apparently, it’s, like, the largest standing set in the world, with five acres of backlot and six soundstages at the famous Cinecittà Studios in Italy. So gorj.
Anyway, I’m thinking of buying the Rome shirt-and-purse combo — do you think that’s taking it a bit too far?

Nahhhhh…!

Re: “What’s wrong with me?” - do you want the list alphabetically or by priority?
But seriously, I’ve heard a lot of good things about Rome, just never sat down to watch. Maybe I’ll take the push from you and catch a couple episodes.

Okay - I have those moments of weakness too. I get totally into Dog the Bounty Hunter. I don’t know why. I CRY during that show. (and Seventh Heaven … I know).
It sounds good. Maybe I will check it out.
But, please, not the t-shirt and bag. So not cool.

UM…T-shirt and purse…yeah it is a bit much.
I have never seen the show, I only get obsessed with American Idol, House, and CSI, the latter 2 I only get to watch the last 1/2 hour of because I have to put the kids to bed before I can watch TV. Which I suppose doesn’t make me to0 crazy. I do live for spike TV marathons of CSI because there is usually 3 or 4 I can catch without the kids seeing it. I am need of TIVO, or something.

I don’t get HBO, so I’m waiting for it to all come out this summer. But it sounds fascinating - who DOESN’T find ancient Rome interesting? They were so like us and yet so weird.

Okay, I really don’t get you. I like that kinda stuff and can’t watch that show!! I am a 24 fan, and that’s all about torture and violence! You - are not.
Hubby watches Rome all the time and tries to convince me to watch it with him.
The purse and shirt? Well, if you get it, I’ll know it’s you if I pass someone walking down the street wearing it. LOL

I was so in shock when I saw the male complete nudity in that show!! I’m use to seeing women naked, but it’s really rare to see men!!
And I didn’t like the show for that reason, most of the story you hear about Anciant Rome, is kind of all sugarcotaed!! This point of view shown in that show is raw, like it was, probably!! But I’m sad cuz I couldn’t reaaly watch it, it was late this summer, the same day as Big Brother and karate night!!

Sorry….no Rome here. My darling huz watches though. I’ve seen a few glimpse of episodes and it did peak my interest…maybe some day.
I watched ANTM in Australia last night. A lot of yelling & bitching going on there. I didn’t like it as much as Tyra’s. Did you get caught up from The Hills I ruined????

YUCK! No Rome clothes. Sorry, hubby loves this show, but I’m not liking it so much. He is so addicted though. I call it “death and mayhem” actually that is how I refer to 24 too.
I guess if you really want them…

Too funny-I just got the DVDs last month and was getting ready to start watching it this week. Now I’m even more psyched!

Dunno, but I’m headed over to Netflix to get this in the queue. My wife and I have already exhausted our way through everything else HBO has on DVD, and we’re about out of Battlestar Galactica, so we’ll need something new. This sounds like just the ticket.
