Another weekend, another wedding, another gig as bridesmaid down the drain. Yess! I mean, it’s such an honour being a bridesmaid. But, I’ve been doing nothing but wedding stuff for the past several weeks: rehearsal dinner, bridal party lunch, buy stalkings, dress fittings, SHOES, haircut, hairstyle, traffic, awkward silences, gifts, babysitter…. Sigh. But, the wedding was so beautiful! A fantasy of Fall colours, leaves, candles, a delicious menu in which even I (on my “clean” diet) could indulge. The bride was lovely — a princess in her self-designed gown. The groom was more emotional and serious than I’ve ever seen him. And, I ate dinner with a fireman.

I would have loved to have sat beside Josh-O at dinner, but that wasn’t on the agenda. The bridal party was seated at the head table (so Josh-O was alone at a table with very friendly strangers). And, quite a bridal party it was: swimming with hottie-hott-hotties, including the fireman sitting to my right. Sorry, my friends, he’s married with kids — so this isn’t that kind of post…. Anyway, as you must know, I only have eyes for Josh-O. LOVE! But, the stuff Kevin the fireman had to say was fascinating. And, I mean, how often do you get to have dinner with a fireman?

Kevin the fireman was très interesting. He loves his job, not only because he only works 14 days a month (which he said is “the best-kept secret of firemen”), but also because he loves his fireman family, with whom he eats, sleeps, trains and works. They are, as Hollywood portrays them, like brothers. I asked him lots of questions. Are you afraid of fire? “No.” Does your wife get scared for you? “No. I don’t tell her everything.” You’ve seen some scary stuff, haven’t you? “Yes. Stuff I have to tuck away, but stuff that makes my life more meaningful. I take nothing for granted.” Dang. Meant to ask him if he’s ever done a calendar shoot….Oh well. He told me some great stories and, in general, that being a fireman was scary at times, to be sure, but that it was rewarding more than anything. “With life,” he said, “you never know; I come home from a rough night, and I hug my son.”

As for the rest of the bridal party, there were hook-ups. There were pre- and post-wedding parties. There was debauchery. It was hot. I was loving being a married witness to all the flirtations, the love fest, all of it….

Speaking of being a witness. I want to capture something the Judge who married the handsome couple said to posterity. He talked about love and marriage in the most beautiful ways. He said something like:

There are 9 words that make a marriage work: I love you; you are beautiful; please forgive me. As we all witness the marriage of Ilana and Andrew, we are reminded of the witnessing that is integral to a marriage. In marrying each other, you are committing to being each other’s witness in life. You are promising the other that s/he matters, that you are a witness to his/her highs and lows, that what s/he says will always be heard, will always matter. You are each other’s witness in life. And, to love is to care for and actively witness the other’s life.

Although we didn’t have dinner together, Josh-O and I had the best time dancing the night away. He enjoyed the people at his table, and he was only a little jealous of Kevin the fireman.

Here’s me walking down the aisle in my not-hot brown dress…:

Gorj flowers….Simply gorj….These are the best pics I could get….Sorry — I mean…sorry, me, because they’re not exactly flattering.

Here’s me with my fab makeup and hair. Now this was good makeup (contrary to the last wedding I was in)…and hair. I’d taken the plunge and got my hair cut on the same day as the wedding! I know — gutsy. But, it all worked out. Check it:

I felt purty. This was definitely a good makeup job. And, I’m saving these pics here so I can come back whenever I want and try to copy it myself….

It was a great night. As for the monkey? She had the best time playing all afternoon and evening with Jhoanne, Ali’s nanny. Ali’s a very lucky mommy to have Jhoanne. And, we were lucky to have her for the day and evening. The monkey kept her busy, scootching around and around the coffee table, laughing at Jhoanne chasing her. A-dorable! When we got home, she was sound asleep…. And, I was thankful the wedding was finally over, that it was so meaningful and lovely, that life could finally return to normal, and, of course, that I could take my aching shoes off….

Now, it’s hard out here for a pimp. So, I might as well pimp it on my own site: go check out my other blog, Cheaty’s Celebrity Gossip! There are Halloween costumes, a scary new nose, and a celeb couple caught being as loving and Josh-O and I!
