I thought it would take months.
I thought she’d be the latest walker in the history of babies.
But, after last night, I changed my mind…because…THE MONKEY IS STANDING! At 13.5 months, she’s finally pulling herself up on her own!
I mean, she’s been pulling herself up in her crib for a month now (see here). But, that doesn’t count. She’s in a state of utter desperation when she does that. Now, she’s pulling herself up happily, for every-day things!
It happened last night when, all of a sudden, up!: she stood up so quickly, holding on to the ottoman, to pet her kitty Minden! I won’t get into how pleased I was that she was actually petting him gently…. I’ll just say that I clapped, and I cheered…and I couldn’t find my camera…boo. But, I was the proudest mama ever. She even let go of the ottoman with one hand and tried to reach a toy nearby. See? That’s my monkey! Total confidence!
I fully attribute the monkey’s latest development to Josh-O. He’s great at teaching her things. He’s the one who taught her her first word: “picture.” And, he’s been diligently working with her on the standing. It’s obviously paid off.
I have to tell you I’m relieved. I was worried that standing was uncomfortable for her. That it hurt her or something — because she’s been so averse to it, even to the point of crying…. I’m relieved that she’s not in pain. She can stand. My little monkey can stand!
As for walking. It’s going to be sooner than I thought….I give her a month. Wow. Just. Wow….

It won’t be long now till she’s taking steps. Then again, she might do what Katy did and stand for 6 weeks, before even trying to walk.
Anyway, congrats that’s so exciting.
P.S. I thought there was something wrong with katy’s legs when she went through this stage too. I think they cry because they get nervous and feel uncertain. It’s more a “this is scary, what am I doing” type cry.

Just wait till she starts walking!
It’s the coolest thing ever…at first it’s pride and amazement, and then….yeah, I’m walking….what are you gonna do about it?
