I think we’re all feeling it, Gorgeouses. The February blahs. Here in Canada, we’ve been getting an insane amount of snow. There’s, like, a blizzard every day, very little sun. It’s exhausting. And, since it’s hard to get out and walk and enjoy nature, it’s getting totally blahhhh.
What we need is a pick-me-up. And, so, I bring you, a chance to win one of TWO $100 gift certificates to the only place I buy my skincare products: Pure+Simple. These are online gift certificates, so this contest is international — i.e., open to EVERYONE.

So, check out this post at Cheaty Recommends, in which I share all my Pure+Simple skincare products and cosmetics, and my morning and nighttime skincare routines.
I always credit my good skin to my vegan lifestyle. But, good skincare is a serious must — especially when you’re approaching 35 (35!!!). Since I started using the Pure+Simple’s most recent products, my skin has looked better than ever. It’sgrandma is even going to start going to Pure+Simple — and she’s been a Clinique girl for YEARS — why? Because she can’t get over how great my skin looks.
It’s all Pure+Simple, baby. And, no. This is absolutely NOT a paid endorsement. This is ME. Pushing a seriously great company. A company that believes in natural skincare, in skincare that supports the environment, and in products that don’t test on animals.
You know how I feel about protecting the earth and animal rights. So, in addition to supporting my favourite source for natural skincare and cosmetics (they have so many famous product lines for you to choose from, by the way…), I’m adding a THIRD prize to this. Again, this is to show you how invested I am not in promoting a company for $$ but in promoting a CONCEPT (and it’s part of a pay-it-forward initiative). Natural skincare WORKS. You don’t need chemicals to fade or prevent wrinkles. You can imagine what chemicals do to your skin in the long run….
SO, the third-prize winner gets a beautiful gift FROM MOI and one of my favourite charities. It’s an American charity that does some of the best work in North America defending wildlife and, by extension, protecting our Earth and way of life (just trust me on that). On behalf of the third-place winner, I will adopt the animal of his/her choice from Defenders of Wildlife.

I’ve already adopted a Wolf and a Snow Leopard…. It’s a really good feeling. The individual who wins this prize will get the certificate and other accouterments that come with the adoption. Defenders of Wildlife is a trusted charity. Indeed, a portion of the proceeds from Kids Deserve Art go there and to WSPA — a trusted Canadian wildlife charity.
BUT I DIGRESS!
GORGEOUSES! YOU HAVE TWO CHANCES TO WIN $100 TOWARD THE BEST NATURAL SKINCARE AND COSMETIC STORE IN THE WORLD! (It’s also the home of Jurlique and Dr. Hauschka product lines — which some of you may know….) So, check out their website, and my recommendations! AND, YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO SUPPORT THE ANIMAL OF YOUR CHOICE! All you need to do is write a comment to enter!
THE ROOLZ
1. ANYONE can enter. Even if you are related to me or take my yoga classes, and even if you’ve won contests here before.
2. You have to write a comment below telling us the ONE (or more) beauty item you cannot live without. For me, I think it’s my Ageless Foundation and eyelash curler…and my Pure+Simple creams. All of ‘em.
3. Winners will be drawn randomly out of a hat (or bowl).
4. I’m giving you a long time to enter, by the way, because I’m BOOKED with work until February 20th, and I want to make the HUGEST VIDEO EVER announcing the winners! So, contest closes February 20th. Winners will be announced February 23.
GOOD LUCK!

My one beauty item I can’t live without is my bathtub. A nice hot bath will relax me enough to make me look much healthier and refreshed, even with a three month old.

I can’t live without my moisturizer. I actually didn’t even use any until about 5 yrs ago. My mom had always told me it made skin oily…so I never used it. But now, I use my dermologica moisturizer every day and night. Love!

I cannot live without Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer (lipbalm). They come in sheer colours but are soooo moisturizing & minty, they make your lips tingle. The shade “watermelon” is my favorite!
Julie February 3rd, 2009 at 9:46 am
I cannot live without my extra-virgin coconut oil (for moisturizer) and my Mary Kay yellow concealer, (I have big ole dark circles)

Aren’t you sweet to be doing another contest Haley!! And thanks .. for suggesting pure and simple .. with your mom noticing how beautiful your skin is, I actually really have to check out this product!
Hmm.. I would have to say my moisturizer and eyeliner I cannot live without. Seriously, even if I am camping I need a little bit of eyeliner, otherwise, I feel NAKED!!
JUlie Paquette February 3rd, 2009 at 9:57 am
My must have make up is my Diorshow Mascara!!! I look like a TV ad, My lashes go from here to tomorrow…. I knock people over with them left and right. Th other thing I cant live without is face moisturizer. Any kind, just slather it on.. Im so excited to enter this contest. I so want to try these products, your skin IS gorg, I want it too!
Lori February 3rd, 2009 at 10:15 am
Moisturizer (I use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion… but I think it’s time for a change), lip balm (Burt’s Bees regular – not tinted), and a bit of mascara (Cover Girl Lash Blast).
Kirsten February 3rd, 2009 at 10:20 am
I was going to say my naturally, genetically greasy skin, but that’s not exactly a product. I would have to say good ole Seabreeze facial astringent, for the aforementioned greasy face!
Jennie February 3rd, 2009 at 10:28 am
I can’t live without my Tweezerman tweezers. I get unibrow if I’m not careful, and have hairy eyelids too! (The upper part – I’m not like a caveman or anything.) I need to keep everything in line on a constant basis!

Ruby Soho February 3rd, 2009 at 1:35 pm
I cannot live without lip balm. Specifically, Philosophy’s Kiss Me balm. Not the coloured, glossy ones you find now days at Sephora, but the plain one. It is hands down my one beauty need. It also got my boyfriend to kiss me the first time.

I need to win Haley! Even on travels abroad where I have left all make-up at home (it was hard!) I have always had moisturizer.
Good luck to everyone!
Alicia February 3rd, 2009 at 2:55 pm
I cannot live without my Burt’s Bees Lip Balm. It is an absolute must have for me! I am going to have to try the Pure & Simple line. It sounds fantastic.
Marie-Christine February 3rd, 2009 at 4:37 pm
Yay, great contest!!!!!!! Thank you so much for that Haley!!!
I so want to adopt an animal!!!! (but i also really badly want to start taking care of my skin and your pure and simple stuff looks amazing!!!)
So my favorite beauty product… I’ll have to say moisturizer too. I have soooo many of them, all in different aromas and textures (I love the butters!!). But I need a new one for my face and hands (argggg winter!). I hope I win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
porter February 3rd, 2009 at 11:39 pm
First I have to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for rule number one..you are a sweetheart.
I have a few beauty products that I can’t live without but I suppose if I had to pick one it would be moisturizer…and if I had to pick one moisturizer it would be Johnson and Johnson baby lotion. Honestly. In a pinch I can (and have) used it everywhere because it’s mild enough for a baby. Of course, it’s not my facial moistuizer of choice.
PJ February 4th, 2009 at 7:44 am
I can’t live without lip balm. Any lip balm is better than none, and I am still searching for the perfect one!

My fav products that I cant live without these days is my sephora body moisturizer. So dry, so cracked….
Jenn February 4th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
Three things come to mind as essential to me right now *brrrrrrrrrr*- my Burt’s Bee’s Almond Mild Hand Cream, Aveda Lip Balm (the only one that seems to last on my lips for hours) and Eminence Stone Crop Whip Moisturizer (love the smell and love how it has evened out my skin tone)
celticbuffy February 4th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
The only product I’ve ever found that I can’t live without is my Burt’s Bees lip balm. I swear that stuff is magic in a tube! Now if only I could find some skin care products that inspired the same undying loyalty as my lip balm!

I simply cannot live without mascara….but as I get older (38, yikes) I seem to need more and more make-up! The sins of my past (lifeguard and California girl) have caught up to me. Sun damage sucks!
Great contest!Thanks!

I only recently started wearing eye makeup everyday and now I don’t think I can walk out of the house without mascara. It definitely makes the eyes pop and makes me look more awake (which is great for the mornings I’m really not).
donna February 5th, 2009 at 10:00 am
I cannot live without my Oil Of Olay, and my E.L.F. Lip Gloss!
Lindsey February 5th, 2009 at 10:48 am
I can win AGAIN??!! Whoo hoo. I love your Roolz. I loooooved the stuff I got. It’s awesome and smelled so good too!
I ordered the SPF 30 Sunscreen, the Collagen Elastin and the cellular repair face cream! They also sent along a free cosmetics bag, a nail file, a sample of the Algae Serum and a cleanser! Great company. Want to go check out their store too!
I can’t leave the house without eyeliner because after all my late nights I look so tired. Makes me look awake! Oh and a wee bit of my new Benefit Her Glossiness V.I.P. Lip Gloss in ‘Talk To My Agent’. So purdy.
Mir February 5th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
I cannot live without my Clinique mascara. I have blond, straight lashes and it does wonders for them and never clumps!
Kristen February 5th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
I hate to admit it, but I am completely out of all my skin creams and foundation and everything! I have been using whatever I can find and my skin is telling the tale, yikes, I usually have fab skin. I have always maintained that water is my best beauty product, I drink tons. And spf lip balm is my can’t live without. I wear it everyday, all day.

I can’t live without the Super Duper Uber Cream made by Bath-A-Holic (www.bath-a-holic.com). ALL of their products are hand made using natural ingredients, with few chemical additives if any. ALL of the products are amazing, and they work! They are especially excellent for those with skin allergies/sensitivities.
Dina February 9th, 2009 at 4:15 pm

I use as little as possible, but I have olive skin tone which can really darken the area under my eyes. So I hate getting “caught” out of the house with no foundation.
carpot February 11th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
Hmmm…I SHOULD say moisturizer. I WANT to say moisturizer. But I’ll say my favorite product has to be mascara – I RARELY go without it!
mich February 11th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
My favorite product is lip gloss. Alba Botanica- Coconut Creme clear lip gloss. It makes me happy!
Kelsey February 11th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
I can’t fall asleep unless I lather on some of my favorite minty lip balm. It puts me to sleep and gives me great, soft lips!
Dori February 13th, 2009 at 8:41 am
My one thing would have to be mascara.
Katie February 13th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
I absolutely need my Urban Decay eyeshadow primer. If I don’t use it, I might as well not use any eyeshadow since it’ll disappear in minutes without the primer. That’s what hooded eyelids and oily skin will do for ya.
Anne February 13th, 2009 at 9:17 pm
I can’t live with out my f*cking magnifying mirror.
Cause since I hit the big 40 I seem to be growing a beard and have to keep plucking.
GRRRRRR
Kate February 13th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
Lip Balm…definitely. Must have soft lips..must, must!
Susie-Q February 17th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
Vaseline…It is an all-around god send for me. Because I always seem to get to myself last my skin is often neglected. That’s when I use it on my poor poor chapped hands, my super dry feet, my dry chapped lips, and even around my eyes before bed for extra moisturizing. If only I did it every day!
Pierre February 18th, 2009 at 4:44 pm
Hair pommade! That’s my secret to these good looks!!!
Beth February 18th, 2009 at 7:27 pm
I’m with Kelsey – I HAVE to have something on my lips before I can fall asleep so that during the night I don’t dry up! Use vaseline, Kiehl’s lip balm, Aquaphor, etc. And lately, I’ve been using a humidifier while I sleep to counteract the dry winter air…
LOVE this contest! And love the tips!
Jenn February 19th, 2009 at 1:15 am
I had mine totally picked out then I read all the other comments and now my list is getting huge.
Living in Calgary it’s so dry so moisturizer is key. I mostly use Oil of Olay. And I do agree with lip balm before bed.
