AS PROMISED! A contest honouring our SUMMER cleanup! It is open to EVERYONE this time — Canada, US, INTERNATIONALS — EVERYONE. Check it….
My favourite spa and skincare line, PURE + SIMPLE, is offering THREE $100 Gift Certificates to THREE lucky Gorgeouses. It could be YOU!
Now, don’t go thinking you have to fly all the way to Toronto, Canada, to spend this Gift Certificate. No. PURE + SIMPLE is one of Toronto’s number-one sources of organic and/or natural beauty products, including their own “Pure + Simple” skincare line, which is what I use. Hilary Duff apparently uses Jurlique, since she has been witnessed buying herself some Jurlique product there….

Photograph by Janet Meyer / PR Photos.
Jurlique is really popular among the celebs, you know, as is Dr. Hauschka. Those lines can be pricey, though — which is why I prefer Pure + Simple’s own line. It’s as effective as (if not better than, from my experience) the other brands, and WAY MORE affordable. Whatever your price-point, though, it’s all there.
And, who cares about price point when you could have $100 GIVEN to you to spend on ANYTHING YOU WANT in the store. Jurlique? Hauschka? Pure + Simple? Martina Gebhardt? Ayurveda products? ANYTHING in their online store. SWEET!
HOW TO ENTER
All you have to do to have a chance to win one of THREE $100 gift certificates to the Pure + Simple online store is leave a comment stating the following:
a) ANY product at the Pure + Simple online store that you would love to try;
b) your best beauty tip.
That’s all! The contest deadline is next Sunday, June 22, at 6pm. The contest is open to EVERYONE. There are no rules…(oh, except the obvious ones — like, one entry per Gorgeous). Winners will be drawn and announced via VIDEO BLOG on Monday, June 23! Also on that video, I’ll reveal the five products I bought today after I had my facial…!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Heather June 9th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
a) I would like to try the Vitamin C Serum
b) You will laugh ! I got the tip from my colleague when I ran out of moisturizer. Olive Oil. Put it on at night, soft beautiful skin in the morning. But only at night because you smell a little bit like pizza ! I laughed at myself for about a week, and then purchased some more moisturizer. But I would go back !
BlondeBlogger June 10th, 2008 at 12:16 am
Oooh, definitely the Body Control Anti-Cellulite Lotion. And my best beauty tip….exfoliate! Often. Everywhere (well every place you can, lol).

Oooh great contest! So happy you got a treat!
I’d get the Baby & Children Sun Milk SPF 30 cause I always but the kids first (and then some Eye Contour Cream for me cause I always look tired!)
My best tip is to wear sunscreen on your face because that really ages you. And we don’t want that!!
Lindsey
Sarah June 10th, 2008 at 8:17 am
a) Chamomile Facial Milk -
b) Nutrogena shampoo once a week between regular shampooing makes the hair super nice and takes away build up! Not a new concept, I now, but a good one to remember!
celticbuffy June 10th, 2008 at 8:32 am
Ooooo! I can’t decide between the UV Natural Adult SPF 30+ or the Pure Foundation. I’m searching for a facial sunscreen that does NOT feel greasy & that I can put foundation over.
My best beauty tip? In addition to sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen, stay fully hydrated. Not only does it help your insides but it helps your skin do its job better. I’ve found my face looks better and I look less tired when I’m drinking enough water.

I would love to try the Vitamin C Serum. Just what I need after losing weight! My beauty secret is Exfoliate!!!!! It does wonders!
Lori L. June 10th, 2008 at 9:02 am
a) I’d like to try the Pure & Simple Face Colours - I think it sounds neat that you can use them on your eyes, lips and cheeks. I’ve always wanted to check this product out.
b) plain old Vaseline on your skin before bed (face, hands, whatever) - your skin feels wonderful when you wake up the next morning (it’s a bit messy though)
Steph June 10th, 2008 at 9:13 am
I would love to try the Arnica Lotion from the Jurlique line:(http://www.pureandsimple.ca/2005/files/products/jurlique.html#moisturizers)
And my beauty tips? Vitamin E on scars and dark spots, lots of water….and stealing beauty tips from bloggers!
junctionmama June 10th, 2008 at 9:25 am
Wow, everything at the spa sounds so yummy, it’s hard to make a decision…
a) The Organic Lemon Rosemary Shampoo sounds good for my curly hair
b) Hydrate and moisturize - drink tons of water to hydrate your skin and moisturize in order to keep in that moisture (ok, that’s two tips, but they’re really interconnected and might as well be one)

I would like to try Collagen Elastin Serum HCH - I’ve yet to get into anti-aging stuff and I’d like to try it.
My beauty tip is to not wash your hair every day. I started shampooing every other day a few years ago and my hair has become healthier and less oily because of it. I can sometimes even go three days (I’ll still rinse it in the shower) and it looks fine!
Heather
Maria June 10th, 2008 at 9:46 am
Vitamin C serum sounds good, actually so do all the products!
Limit your pop. I find if I stop drinking pop my skin always looks 100% better, once I start (& I love my diet coke!) my skin always starts looking dull & dry. Drinking lots of water is no myth - it really keeps my skin looking moisturized & radiant.
bunny June 10th, 2008 at 10:05 am
1) I would love to try the John Masters Organic’s Honey & Hibiscus Shampoo and Reconstructor because I still am trying to find the perfect hair products!
2) Drink water, drink water, drink water. Get enough sleep. If possible, don’t smoke. Wear sunscreen!
Thank you for the chance!

My beauty tip would be EXFOLIATION - whenever I use facial scrubs, my skin always looks more healthy.
BONUS: My great-aunt’s beauty tip was to put Vaseline all over her face before bed time. At 95 years old, she looked to be in her 60s!
Chantal June 10th, 2008 at 11:47 am
Your give aways are awesome
A) I would probably get some Lavera sunscreen products. I am always looking for less chemical (more healthy) sun screens for me and the kids.
B)I am not much of a beauty expert. But I think sleep helps. Of course that is easy for me to say, I don’t have an infant at home any more (sorry Haley)
Thanks

They really have some amazing stuff!
a) I would like to try a few things: Dr.Hauschka Daily Revitalizing Eye Cream, Jurlique Balancing Day Cream or Lavera Baby & Child Neutral Sun-Spray SPF 30
b) A good night’s sleep is my beauty tip (although I haven’t had this for over 3 years now). So, the other thing is to wear a bright nice lipstick …if you are tired it seems to draw attention to your mouth instead of to tired eyes.

Organic Chamomile Hydrosol, I need to try that!
MY beauty tip? If you are too tired to properly take off your makeup at night - Pampers Sensitive Baby wipes work wonders. Does a decent job on waterproof mascara too.
Dayn June 10th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Lemon jojoba mask. I love love love masks! My best beauty tip is to ALWAYS wash, tone and moisturize your face before bed. Good skin starts with good good care!
Valentina June 10th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Ohhh! I like this contest.
a) I would love to try the Sage-Mint Facial Milk (I really like cleaning my face, I do it every day)
b) My best beauty tip would be getting a good night’s sleep. Everytime sometimes has little sleep or a bad night, NOTHING can hide it. I am a big fan of sleeping and everytime I sleep really good I feel (and look) better.

This is a great contest! Congrats on your facial. You do deserve some time to yourself.
a. Body Control Anti-Cellulite Lotion
b. Take a walk every day, with or without babies/pets. It is good for your health and your mind.
Michele June 10th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Great contest! I haven’t had a facial in almost 10 years, if you can believe that!! Anyhow, I would like to try the UV Natural Adult SPF 30+
My best beauty tip is to love yourself! - confidence is beautiful
’cause I need a new moisturizer
Lesley June 10th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
A) Algae Serum
I think whether I win or lose this contest I need to try this product. It’s for stress and weather damaged skin. When the weather is fair I’m out with the dayhome kids and my poor face endures some massive weather damage. I use sunscreen but it always makes me breakout and my oily skin way more oilier. Hmm…maybe I need to look at an oilfree sunscreen as well…
B) Beauty tip - oils are supposed to be a good thing so rather than trying to stop them from flowing I use blotting paper to control the shininess - I’ve heard that perm papers work the same too but are cheaper.
LOVE LOVE LOVE everyone’s beauty tips! I’ve totally used the Pampers Sensitive Wipes on more than one occasion…

What an exciting contest!
I would love to try the Organic Spearmint Body Wash, as I am into anything mint. I find mint so relaxing and rejuvenating all at the same time!
My beauty tip is to keep your daily beauty routine simple–too many products just can’t be good for you. A good cleanser, toner and moisturizer is all you really need (in my opinion).
Oh–one more–to keep your feet soft and smooth all summer long…lather up your feet with your favourite foot cream (quite thick) and go to bed with your socks on (if you can do it).

(a) pure & simple organic peppermint hydrosol
(b) I am not qualified to give beauty tips these days, but I would have to say vaseline on the feet to keep them pedicure soft.
Taylor Blue June 11th, 2008 at 9:44 am
a) I would for sure want a face wash…I could use something good for my face…after all I have to stay good looking some how…
b) My best beauty tip…I can’t believe I actually have one! I use baby shampoo (the non tear kind) to clean the makeup off my eyes. That way it’s delicate and it doesn’t burn my eyes. (Plus, I am reminded of my babies every time I smell it!)

A they have such awesome stuff there.probably the ayurvedic stuff though.if its good for inside its good for the outside.
B and that would be my tip if its good for you inside its good for the outside.like avocado or honey on the face then rinsing it off.P.S. if you ever do get the chance to have an uninterrupted nights sleep i would recommend DOVE calming bar or night time body wash and lotion so relaxing and i’m out all night.
Shannon Young June 11th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
A) Dr. Hauschka Facial Steam Bath Concentrate
B) My best beauty advice is to always moisturize before going to bed (your whole body!) AND of course…it is good if you go to bed for the full night!
Sara June 11th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Great contest!
A. I think that I would want to try the Skin Drink moisturizer.

What a fantastic contest! This has made my day, and I didn’t even win (yet!).
a) The Blossom Petal Hand Cream and the Chamomile Facial Milk both sound heavenly.
b) Beauty Tip: I love to have a little “color” on my face, but the pure and simple fact is the sun is not good for long-term fabulous skin (especially on the face). I like to put on a facial bronzer (self-tanner) when I have a special day or photo-worthy event and I find it just gives a nice glow. Also find that I have to wear less make-up when I use a bronzer.

Hmm maybe the Chamomile Facial Milk. Looks nice!
But all the products look great.
My tip.
Use all natural soaps! Nothing you couldnt eat.. after all the face is the most sensitive skin on our bodies.
I use 100% natural soaps from http://www.thelotetree.com and love them. I even use the vegan detergent she offers.. best stuff ever!!
Use an all natural mineral make up. My fav http://www.pureanada.ca
It is fantastic and has cleared my skin up so much. Thanks for the giveaway!

1. I would definitely go for the Skin Nourishing Exfoliant + Mask.
2. My beauty tip is simple. I think this is actually advice from Deepak Chopra - to spend some time every day remembering what it was like to be young. I honestly believe this keeps you looking, and feeling, young. I had a great aunt, who lived to 90, who did this and she was fabulous. It helps when you have kids that encourage you to be childish once in a while!
Lauren June 12th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
1. I would get the vitamin c serum.
2. Try to get enough sleep! And I use benzol peroxide on blemishes. It really helps.
Dawn June 12th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
1. Not sure of a specific product, but I would try to find a moisturizer or a cleanser that my momma can use on herself. She is on a pill for her cancer that causes breakouts.
2. Lots o’ sleep for me! And vaseline works wonders on my super dry skin.

1. Pure Skin Face Oil (a funny name for a product under the oily skin category, but it sounds great for skin that suffers in the summer humidity!).
2. I have to go with good, quality sleep as a beauty tip. When I do manage it, I look better. But since that’s not always possible for mothers (and others!)… I recommend curling your eyelashes to liven up your look. (Although I realize some lucky people don’t need to curl their eyelashes!) It can make all the difference in making me look good and, as an extension, feel good!
carpot June 13th, 2008 at 11:56 am
I would like to try the Sensitive Skin Cleansing Milk - I am in desperate need of a new cleanser!
My beauty tip? Ummm…lots of good ones already…lots of water, sunscreen, sleep…but I’ll pick one of my own faves: I suffer from dry feet (blech!) and I LOVE to use Vaseline Creamy right before bed and slather it all over my footsies and then put on a pair of sweatsocks. In the morning, my feet feel great!
Ginny June 14th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
I would love to try their masks. Any of them really but the calming cucumber or the French clay masks sound divine.
As for beauty tips I think my best beauty tip is to clean and wash your face every night and use a anti-aging cream. I swear since I started using the anti-aging cream in the last 6 months I’ve had people tell me my skin looks great!
Sharon June 15th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
a) ANY product at the Pure + Simple online store that you would love to try:
I would totally love to try the Calming Cucumber Mask, because I have very sensitive skin - most skincare products irritate my skin. Also, in the summer, I find my skin becomes dehydrated a lot faster - the ingredients (sea algae which helps skin hold hydration + antioxidants of grapeseed extract, vitamin a, c + e ) in this masks sound like it will help infuse my skin with with tonnes of hydration and plump up skin cells. I am eager to experience having this product leave my skin feeling renewed + rejuvenated
b) My best beauty tip:
- I drink lots of pure, filtered water with fresh organic lemon juice squeezed into it (I also clean the organic lemon well, and drop the entire rind into the water, after I have squeezed the juice into the water). According to Dr. Patricia Fitzgerald (writer of the book, “The Detox Solution”), this refreshing drink helps to alkalize the blood, improve digestion (thus, improving your body’s ability to detoxify), and gives you a large dose of antioxidants in the form of citric acid. As well, as suggested by Dr. Fitzgerald, “upon rising, drink a cup of hot water with lemon (instead of coffee). This can stimulate the release of bile and aid in cleansing the liver and bowels first thing in the morning”. I have been drinking large amounts of both hot water and lemon and cold water with lemon, for the last few weeks instead of coffee and regular water, and I have noticed I have more bowel movements and I feel more energetic (l no longer get that caffeine-low period that occurs in the afternoon). Also, I am finding my skin has a more beautiful, healthy glow.
Sharon June 15th, 2008 at 11:45 pm
a) ANY product at the Pure + Simple online store that you would love to try:
I would totally love to try the Sensitive Skin Exfoliant + Mask, because the product information notes it is non-irritating (which is great news for me, since I have very sensitive skin).
b) My best beauty tip:
- I try my best to consciously choose (it helps when you have these types of people in your life who freely feel these emotions - cut out the toxic people in your life) to feel the healing emotions of joy, compassion, peace, love as much as possible (over the toxic emotions of anger, blame, fear, or worry). Apparently, by choosing to feel these healing emotions - it reduces the amount of stress chemicals that the liver would have to process (thus, improving your body’s natural ability to detoxify and heal itself)…

My beauty tip:
Do NOT look in the mirror for at least the first six or so months after having a baby. Well this has been my experience anyway. Good Gods what has happened to my skin/hair/nails and WHEN will I look normal again?

Hmmm.. so many fabulous products to pick from, but I would love to try the Lactic Acid skin treatment.
My beauty tip is baking soda - I use it as a paste to whiten my teeth and as a gentle exfoliator. So cheap, yet effective!

I would love to try the Honey Neroli Facial Cream. Sounds simply lovely.
My best beauty tip is…use milk as a facial cleanser..it works!
April Snow June 20th, 2008 at 1:14 am
I would love to try the Organic Lemon Rosemary Shampoo - since I love the smell of citrus and rosemary. I also love the fact this product is sulfate and paraben free (some research is showing possible cancer links to parabens - yikes!!).
My best beauty tip is to eat a whole food diet (as unprocessed and natural as possible) - with lots of raw foods (still rich in enzymes), and preferably organic (can be expensive - but heck your worth it!).

I’d like to try the Ayurvedic Pitta Face Cleanser. Sounds like it would be good for my combo skin that gets splotchy and oily!
My best tip is SUNSCREEN!!!!!!!!! Didn’t wear it when I was younger, now I’m paying the price with age spots (plus remenants of the mask of pregnancy, dangit) and un-even coloring. I don’t leave the house without a minimum 15, mostly 30 on my face all the dang time!
Marsha June 20th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
I think I would either get the Pure Foundation, the Kiss Me mascara and eyeliner, or sunscreen for the whole family.
Wear sunscreen, moisturize, and drink lots of water are my beauty tips, I really don’t have anything original to offer!
PJ June 20th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
a) Rejuvenating Eye Gel
b) Don’t apply eye cream before bed — it can smear into your eyes and cause irritation!
kate June 22nd, 2008 at 2:45 am
A) Ohh, I’d love to try out the Cellular Repair Face Cream!
B) Beauty tip: rotate products (skin can tire from the same products) and apply eye cream daily!
